Abstract

At the moment, the problem of the pollution of the water affects the world-wide population. The removal of industrial residual water polluting agents requires of special and advanced treatments; that is the reason why the interest of finding better ways and efficient low-cost materials that allow the removal of chemical substances of water has been growing, in order to decrease the generated environmental impact; it is here where the adsorbent materials play a very important role in the contaminated water purification.
The composite that was prepared with activated carbon from the residual sludge pyrolysis and a nanoalloy of Fe/Cu, together with raw materials were characterized by SEM (scanning electronic microscopy) for the determination of the structure and morphology, EDS (energy dispersion spectroscopy) for elementary analysis of the activated carbon and the nanoalloy separately as well as the composite, and dispersion of light to know the particle size of all the materials. The results obtained by SEM were the expected ones since a very porous material with a particle size of 100 nm approximately is observed in the micrographs and in the spectrum of energies of the elements in the activated carbon sample it is verified that the most abundant element is carbon, with an average of 57,82 % in weigth, followed by oxygen with 23,78 %, then silicon with 8,87 % and different metals in low concentrations like iron, chromium and titanium; nevertheless, in the composite analysis, the abundant signals of Fe and Cu were observed.
