Assessment of the spatial distribution of dairy farms for the waste management generated in the basin of Delicias, Chihuahua
Main Article Content
Abstract
Big volumes of liquid and solid waste untreated are accumulated in the intensive feedlots as increasing environmental problem everywhere. In the present work the spatial distribution of feedlots at the south center region in Chihuahua, Mexico was valuated by satellite image. The objective was the identification of the criteria to establish a regional waste management plan. A principal action was the delimitation and geographic location of feedlots by valuating the physiographic features capable to make decisions based on spatial availability and waste production. The location of each feedlot using satellite image allows accurate information about the current status of natural recourses. This technique makes more efficient the environmental studies and the potential impact of productive activities on water, soil and air. It contributes to a better organization and harmony between the feedlots production and communities. The collected data allowed us implement a regional plan of waste management that minimize the negative environmental impact at the same time give us the usage alternatives of the waste based on the farmer needs at the at the south center region in Chihuahua, Mexico.
