Abstract

Urban development is influenced by the situation which saves the environment and the dynamics of population growth. Under this premise, it stresses the need to assess the inhabitants of the urban perception of their well-being through indicators that affect their quality of life. The research was based on a consultation tool for assessing the interest of 51 indicators that were grouped into 17 themes of a social, economic and environmental. We applied an analysis of contingency tables finding significant associations with two sociodemographic attributes that relate to sex that affected 12 indicators (P ≤ 0.10) and the variable occupation that affected 38 indicators (P ≤ 0.10). Of the six environmental indicators evaluated five were influenced by these same attributes, which relate to environmental complaints, environmental studies, administrative, training and promotion of environmental activities in the community. The results may serve to strengthen the urban planning and development instruments of the city of Chihuahua under a scheme of sustainability.
