Abstract

In this work, we report the degradation of methylene blue (M.B.) in the presence of TiO2 degussa P25 (TiO2-d), TiO2 prepared by sol gel method (TiO2-sg), TiO2-d and TiO2-sg sulphated (TiO2-d-SO4 and TiO2-sg-SO4) catalysts using UV light and O2 or air as oxidant. DRX analysis of TiO2-d and TiO2-sg materials showed a mixture of anatase and rutile phases, while that, anatasa was the unique phase present in TiO2-sg-SO4. The concentration of catalysts was varied from 0.7 g/l to 1.3 g l-1. The photolysis effect over the M.B degradation was negligible. The degradation of M.B. reached 100% in 6 h of the reaction with TiO2-d and TiO2–sg-SO4 catalysts. The optimal catalysts concentration was 0.9 g l-1.
