NUTRIFITOTM evaluation as a natural promotor in feed, for commercial production of white shrimp from the Pacific Litopenaeus vannamei
Main Article Content
Abstract
A natural extract-bassed of Yucca schidigera and Quillaja saponaria additive was evaluated (NUTRIFITOTM). Such additive was incorporated into a commercial 35% protein feed (malta Cleyton). Two formulated feed were made containing 0.5 and 2.0 kg additive/feed ton respectively. The experiment was conducted in triplicate in the “Camaronicultores de Sonora” farm using 3.8 has ponds and lasted for 190 days. Litopenaeus vannamei post-larvae (PL-14) were stocked at a density of 27.5 m-2. During the experiment, the handling of food, fertilizer and spare water ponds were made according to the operational proced ure of the technical staff of the farm. The results indicate that increased production of shrimp were achieved with diets containing the additive natural diet 1 generated significantly (p> 0.05) higher yields 3659 kg ha-1 (560 kg per hectare more than the control diet). Survival and the feed conversion factor were better where the additive was included in the diet, but differences were not significant (p> 0.05) between treatments. During the experiment the health indicators (average total number of hemocytes in hemolymph) in all treatments ranged from 19.000 to 27.000 cel mm-3 is considered normal. The water quality variables recorded during the experiment, temperature, oxygen, salinity, pH, and turbidity, were generally fluctuated in the range optimal for the species. We conclude that the use of natural NUTRIFITOTM as an additive in the diet led to increased production of shrimp, which represents an improvement in the current formulation of the food and is another ingredient for the industry and add value to existing formulations.
