Vegetation distribution across a transect of the Sierra Madre Occidental in Durango, Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
It shows the distribution of the vegetation registered in a transect that include a gradient altitudinal between the city of Durango 2131 m and the population of El Salto, Pueblo Nuevo 2556 m. Two groups of vegetation associations were identified by means of the clusters analysis using an extension XLSTAT of the program Microsoft Excel. The indexes of diversity used were Margalef (to obtain specific wealth), McIntosh and Simpson to obtain abundance and proportionality, and Shannon–Wiener to determine justness. The profile of vegetation of the transect was schematized and the samplings show 30 families, 54 genera and 75 species of vascular plants, finding two major groups of plant associations, affinity for those who keep in dry or semiarid temperate ecosystems and temperate ecosystems related to wet and semicould. The tree species found in a larger number of sites were Quercus durifolia, Pinus leiophylla, P. engelmannii y P. teocote.
