Abstract

Due to the critical situation that the environment faces, it is important to propose alternative solutions to curb the impact of human activities on our environment. In this sense, environmental education becomes a tool that integrates educational strategies in different contexts, both formal and informal. The methodology of the work consists of integrating the characteristics of learning of the child, the institutional characteristics that are dictated by the SEP and the environmental subject matters that are approached from a holistic approach. Based on this argument, the work proves the feasibility and relevance of environmental issues arising from the problems of the environment in two different educational settings, a semi-rural and an urban metropolitan area in the Toluca Valley. The results prove that though there are applied pedagogic strategies of environmental education to children of the same age, the context is determinant for his success, for what to adapt them to every context.
