Choosing wheat genotype to use in a relay production system with cotton, corn and sorghum
Main Article Content
Abstract
The crop relay system pretends to match the society aids (increase yield and quality of food) with those of the agriculturist, who pretends to develop in a rational scenario to gain enough earnings to live properly and guarantee their permanence and prosperity at the agro business.
The development of the proper technology for the agro production implies several aspects like the contribution of wheat genotype to the productivity of the system.
Under this purpose was evaluated the effect of five wheat flour and five durum wheat genotypes in four production systems. On three of the systems was used the relay technique: wheat/cotton (RTA), wheat/corn (RTM) and wheat/sorghum (TT).
The results showed that the relay technique does not affect the production of wheat. The variety of wheat has an establishment and initial growing effect of the relay crop (cotton, wheat and sorghum). The three used crops were recovered, progressed and yielded properly. On this information was not found interaction between the wheat variety and the production system, that is why the genotype election is such as the traditional one. The relay system can give profits 21 times bigger than corn, 3.4 times bigger than cotton and almost nine times to the traditional sorghum. The net income at the best was 1770 dlls/ha for RTA and RTS, and 191 dlls/ha for RTM.
