Abstract

The abusive and uncontrolled use of insecticides for the control of vectors of diseases such as dengue and malaria, Leishmaniasis and Trypanosomiasis have caused irreparable damage to the environment, by the waste in the soil and water, food poisoning and creating resistance in the insects, resulting in more difficult eradication of diseases that are transmitted in humans. For this reason, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the in vitro mass propagation of ‘matico’ (Piper tuberculatum) and its application in the control of vectors of metaxenic diseases in Lambayeque, a region on the north coast of Peru with increasing incidence of dengue, transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Leishmaniasis (“uta”), transmitted by Lutzomya sp. P. tuberculatum is a species that contains numerous secondary metabolites like amides, lignans and flavonoids, with great insecticidal activity. The results indicated that using the in vitro culture of shoot apices and nodal segments it is possible to obtain thousands of plants that can be successfully transferred to field conditions and produce extracts of inflorescences with insecticidal potential. The results indicate that using the in vitro culture of shoot apices and nodal segments, thousands of plants are obtained that can be transferred successfully to field conditions and by means of an extraction process with organic solvents, obtain secondary metabolites with bioinsecticidal activity.
