Abstract

With the goal of generate technical support for the selection of the best commercial clones for the Jalisco and Nayarit states (Mexico), the adaptability and growth of experimental rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) plantations were assessed. Such plantations were previously established to restore the productivity of lands deforested by local livestock activities. In the municipality of Talpa de Allende, Jalisco, two rubber tree plantations were assessed. A first one was established in August 2012 with the clones IAN 873, PB 2859 y RRIM 600. The second one was established in October 2014 with the clones IAN-873, RRIC-102, RRIC-110, PB-260 y PB-2859. In the municipality of Tepic, Nayarit, four clones (IAN-873, IAN-710, IRCA-41 y RRIM-600), all established in august 2011, were evaluated. For both locations the sampling sites were 250 m² in size, with intensities of 5-10%.  The factors evaluated were survival rate, stem diameter and height. Comparisons among of different genetic materials were made. Based on the results obtained, in the state of Nayarit the clones evaluated showed significant differences regarding their growth, being IRCA 41 the one with the greatest growth and Talpa de Allende the clone PB 2859.
