Treatment with extract of Azadirachta indica in swine wastewater contaminated with Salmonella typhi
Main Article Content
Abstract
The need to raise water for agricultural use, in semi-desert zones such as the Yaqui Valley, has edging to farmers and pig producers to join forces so that latter "benefit" the volumes of water in irrigation with anaerobic disinfection only channels. This study aims to demonstrate the presence of Salmonella in sewage as well as offering an alternative to organic disinfection with the oil extracted from the seeds of the Azadirachta indica. Osorio, et (2010), holding that the analysis of compounds organic aggregates are made to characterize wastewater treated and untreated, to estimate the performance of treatment processes and study their behavior in receiving sources and today. According to Metcalf y Eddy (1996), must have knowledge of those microorganisms involved in biological treatments, pathogenic organisms present in wastewater agencies used as indicators of pollution and its importance. Using the Soxhlet method, extraction of Azadirachta índica seed oil is enhanced in order to obtain a product that helps the swine waste water disinfection. Proceeded to the sample problem and immediately made different concentrations of oil with residual water. Then the process of sowing, nothing results of bacterial growth by identifying with biochemical tests to the bacteria was carried out Salmonella and concluding with dilutions to different concentrations of extract of Azadirachta indica as inhibitor of growth of Salmonella being the concentration of 17.5% where there was bacterial growth but only color change in the culture medium and is up to the concentration of 20% of Azadirachta indica Oil on the sewage with Salmonella where already there was no growth. In conclusion, found the presence of microorganisms of the genus Salmonella in pig wastewater in the Yaqui Valley of, in the form of gram negative bacilli and also demonstrated the effectiveness of the seed extract of Azadirachta indica as bactericide at a certain concentration, being a good alternative for agricultural use water from pig farms.
