Abstract

In the current work the adsorption capacity of char material to remove Cu (II) and Ni (II) was evaluated. The material was obtained from Veitchia Merriillii seeds, which is abundant in tropical countries. The size of the particle (F1, F2 and F3) was analyzed in adsorption experiments.
The mineral showed off a well removal capacity in the evaluated range of concentration. Therefore, it could be applied to treat contaminated wastewater with Cu (II) and Ni (II).
Experimental results were adjusted to Langmuir model satisfactorily.
On this basis, a water purification process was proposed and the economic analysis concluded that the material has good prospects for application in water contaminated with these metals.
